Here is a bit of background about our project so you can get to know us a bit more.

Behind every toy that brings a smile to a family in Newport, there is a mountain of hidden time and effort. As we gear up for 2026, we wanted to share the story of how a simple idea between two friends blossomed into a massive community project—proving that the true meaning of Christmas starts right here at home.

🎁 2020: It all began when two friends saw how the pandemic lockdown and rising cost of living were hitting families in Bettws. They started gathering donations from neighbours to help support local families right from their flats.

🏢 2021: The project grew so fast that we teamed up with The Little Haven (formerly Bettws in Bloom), who generously offered us a permanent home for the next few years.

🌐 2022: Expanding beyond Bettws, the project grew to support families across the wider Newport area.

📻 2023: Things truly skyrocketed! Newport City Radio stepped up to campaign for donations, set up drop-off locations, and turned their station into a storage hub. With Lamsey leading the charge, the radio station became a powerful ally—and Lamsey remains a massive supporter today. Together, we helped 606 families across Newport, hand-in-hand with our amazing community.

💙 2025: One of our incredible founders, who poured endless hours into the project (and famously stored mountains of toys in her two-bedroom flat!), made the decision to step down to focus on her health and family. She left the project in Dominique's safe hands with total love and support. Without the two of them joining forces in 2020, none of this would exist! Dominique and the team rallied together, bringing our total impact to over 800 families helped since 2020.

🚀 2026 & Beyond: We are now entering our sixth year! A brand-new team is already working behind the scenes to make this our biggest year yet—building a stronger social media presence, securing incredible sponsors, and hunting for vital funding and extra space.

With the rising cost of living, our goal remains simple: to take the pressure off local parents so children get the magical, joyful Christmas they deserve. No child should ever be left behind.

(Note: Things might run a little differently this year as our founder recovers from an operation, but that isn't going to slow us down!)
